To Read or Not To Read: Yes, so much yes! Read this book if you like dystopian novels, coming of age stories, twists that are hard to predict, character development, and a book that is a quick read because you don't want to put it down. This book was a page turner to the point that my daughter walked over twice - TWICE - and close my book to be like, "Mommy, you need to watch this movie with me!"

As the tagline says, "There is no such thing as safe!" You feel it. This Savage Song is a suspenseful story that will have you gripping the cover of your book or kindle.

Overall: I was sucked into this book! Schwab is amazing at dropping you in the middle of the story and telling you just enough to make you care about the characters, even though you don't know much about the story. This is the second book I read by this author, but she doesn't suffer from formula writing - other than the Hero's Journey cycle. The characters are relatable and they grow, even their relationship changes as the story progresses. There is a twist that I didn't see coming. Overall, it was definitely a page turner, and worth a recommendation!

Other Interesting Notes: This book is pretty violent - a dystopian novel tends to be. Suicide may also be a trigger for some in this novel. Abuse is also another topic that may trigger. However, all of the above mentioned issues are used for story progression.

As my daughter has eaten all my disposable income I've already got book 2 from the library! Look for that review soon!
